The Celtics believed that the family tree was their ancestors. In some cases, they would take the bark of the tree and make canoes or homes out of it in order to be closer to their ancestors. They would also carve the names of their ancestors into the trees. To the Celts, trees were the givers of life, and they honoured them as such.
The bond and affection the Celts had for family trees ran so deep that they believed the actual family tree was their ancestors. This connection is evident in the way they would use the bark of the tree to make canoes or homes. By doing this, they were able to be closer to their ancestors. The Celtics also carved the names of their ancestors into the trees. They did this as a way to honour their ancestors. Trees, to the Celts, were the givers of life.
